SWIMMING
& SPA
Lakes
There are bathing lakes either side of Le Monêtier Les Bains, the
Pontillas lake being a particular favourite among families with its naturally
warm water, beach and entertainment facilities. A more peaceful retreat
is La Roche de Rame, a 40 metre deep, natural lake just south of Briançon.
There is also Lac Serre-Ponçon in Embrun which makes a fabulous
day out.

Spa baths
Right on our doorstep are the thermal spa baths of Le Monêtier Les
Bains. In the years gone by, people travelled from far, far away to benefit
from the village's healing spas - bathing in the tranquility of the beautiful
setting with mountains either side and glaciers perched above. Rich in
minerals, the water is a deeply relaxing 36 degrees centigrade. The baths
are currently being rebuilt to house one of the largest thermal spas in
Europe - we expect this to be complete by winter 2008. A visit to the
spa baths is an experience not to be missed and they are less than
a five minute walk from the hotel (you simply have to come back in winter
when you'll find fellow bathers rolling in the snow inbetween bathing
sessions - go on, you give it a go!)

Swimming pools
The nearby town of Briançon has an impressive leisure centre with
indoor and outdoor pools, fun slides and relaxing sauna and jacuzzi facilities
- Parc 1326.
Large lawns with sun loungers are available for those who want to top
up their tan. In Villeneuve - a five minute drive away - two more swimming
pools await you: the Piscine des Iscles (indoor) and the Piscine de Chazelay
(outdoor).
